Do you know how the emergence of quantum computing might impact your organisations current #encryptionstandards (#RSA)and the #security of sensitive data? This evolving domain and its future impact on #Payments and #FinancialSecurity will be analysed and worked through in a new Emerging Payments Association Asia Work Group on Quantum-Safe Cryptography across ASEAN, with founding members PayPal IBM, HSBC, and Australian Payments Plus. The group was introduced and launched at Money20/20 Asia's panel session "Cracking the Code—The Race to Quantum Safe” with Ray Harishankar, Mary Ann Francis 🌟& Camilla Bullock. The workgroup will support a roadmap for quantum-safe cryptography adoption across the payments and banking landscape. With quantum computers gaining power, the threat to encryption standards like RSA grows. Organisations must transition to post-quantum cryptography to safeguard data against future quantum threats. The work group aims to outline requirements, identify dependencies, use cases, and develop a roadmap for implementing post-quantum networking, mitigating risks associated with future quantum computers. How can we leverage regulatory collaboration to advance the G20 cross-border payments agenda effectively? Explore insights from the latest paper by the Emerging Payments Association Asia (EPAA) and its members, supported by @Ant Group and EPAA Advisory Board member, Carrie Suen. The Emerging Payments Association Asia (EPAA) and its members have been active participants in the current cross-border payments dialogue. Our efforts include membership on the BIS / CPMI Payments Interoperability and Extension (PIE) Taskforce, the FSB Legal, Regulatory and Supervisory (LRS) Taskforce, and the API Expert Panel. This current paper titled “𝐂𝐫𝐨𝐬𝐬-𝐁𝐨𝐫𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝐏𝐚𝐲𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐑𝐞𝐠𝐮𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐲 𝐂𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧”, takes a deeper dive into what governments, central banks and other policymakers should consider to foster regulatory collaboration as they advance the G20 cross-border payments agenda. Achieving the targets will require both hard work as well as a willingness to be bold and challenge current ways of thinking. We encourage all involved in the payments ecosystem in APAC to challenge their organisation to become involved in the discussions and ensure that APAC innovation and collaboration is used to develop the best cross-border payments ecosystem we can imagine! Yesterday afternoon, Payments industry leaders attended EPAA @Home Event to talk about #thefutureofpayments. The afternoon kicked off with two energetic round tables with vibrant participant engagement, some key takeaways from each roundtable were: 𝐓𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐜𝐨-𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 A24: 𝐍𝐚𝐯𝐢𝐠𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐒𝐞𝐜𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐲, 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐢𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐑𝐞𝐠𝐮𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐬𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐅𝐮𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐏𝐚𝐲𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 - Exploring real-time KYC scanning and seamless onboarding for a better customer journey, with a focus on identifying exposed customers. - Strengthening client onboarding and controls can mitigate scams from namecheck alerts. - Smaller financial institutions struggle with regulatory requirements across jurisdictions, highlighting the need for trusted partners. - Fintech-bank collaboration on innovation and regulation grows, with EPAA aiding industry input for effective policymaking. "We share the challenge of balancing regulatory changes with innovation. Our discussions often focus on simplifying regulations. With increased collaboration from regulators, it's time for industry-wide creative innovation within the regulatory domain.” 𝐓𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐜𝐨-𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 TreviPay: 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐩𝐚𝐲𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐁2𝐁 𝐛𝐮𝐲𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐰𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐢𝐫 𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐫𝐬 - B2B buyers aren't a monolith. They require a variety of payment options just like consumers, with trade credit (net terms) reigning supreme for many. Offering flexible invoicing schedules (30, 60, 90 days) is a major plus. But don't neglect credit cards or other digital payment methods for smaller transactions. - The entire payment process, from initial invoice to final payment, should be smooth sailing. Integration with a buyer's existing Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system is a huge advantage. - B2B buyers expect clear communication about pricing, fees, and payment terms. Invoices should be easy to understand, with detailed breakdowns and the ability to track order history. - B2B buyers need to trust the payment platform. This includes robust security measures, clear dispute resolution processes, and a proven track record. “The demand and supply sides of payments each have their strategies, but without middleware, it doesn’t work. Thus, the Fintech 'service layer' holds everything together.” EPAA CEO, Camilla Bullock was also joined by Mahesh Narayan to share his payments experience, during the fireside chat. We always turn to our members for thought leadership. Thank you A24 and TreviPay for making this event possible. Thank you to EY for hosting us. EPAA@Home, where Ideas are born.
